When you reach the rank of Colonel, you become a General and have the responsibility for your entire army and entire staff. As a Colonel you’ll also earn the highest pay per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you will be able to enjoy the most number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay increments at this level are determined by the military cost index for employment. This is a way to keep track of the rate of inflation of living expenses. When a region has an index that is high, then the cost of living is expected to be significantly higher than when the Index is not high. This will result in an increase of the salaries of military personnel who are highly educated and had similar promotions and increments that are similar to those in lower paygrades. People who are promoted to positions below their pay grade receive no increase.
Officers with commissioning and enlisted receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid when they reach this level is based on the actual rating of their commission and is typically above the rank of their actual star. At higher levels of command that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers can be eligible for the rank of Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all commissioned officers can be promoted to general. Therefore, those who have already been elevated to General will be qualified to be promoted to Vice Captain or Major.
Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties will increase every two years. You have to be in the top twenty percent of your class to be promoted to the Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay levels may apply to become a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant after they’ve completed the required number in years served and completed the required level of promotion.
