The next level up in the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this scale is the ” Colonel”. When you attain the rank of Colonel, it means that you will rank as a General and will have responsibility for all of the military and the entire staff. At this rank you’ll also receive the highest amount of pay per day. At higher levels, are entitled to the most number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay increases at this point are calculated based on the army cost of labor index. This is a way to keep track of the rate of inflation of the cost of living. When an area is characterized by an index that is high, then the cost of living will be expected to be greater than when the cost index is lower. This causes an increase in the salary of military personnel who are highly educated . They have had similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower pay levels. Promotions in the lower ranks of their pay are not given a raise.
Officers who hold both a employed and enlisted are given an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The pay they receive when they reach this level is based on their actual commission rating that is generally higher than that of their real star. Higher ranks of command like Colonel both commissioned, and enlisted officers can receive an upgrade to Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotion. So, officers who have earlier been promoted to a General are qualified to be promoted to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties increases every two years. You must be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to an advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialty pay grades can apply to become surgeon technician or Medical Assistant, once they’ve completed the necessary number hours of work experience and have completed the required level of promotion.
