U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measure of personnel compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps are the branches using the pay scales used by the military. An employment cost index establishes this U.S. military pay scale known as“the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated by analyzing the requirements for enlisted employees as well as permanent personnel and temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty military personnel. After analyzing these elements to determine the appropriate rate, it is adjusted to provide a rate that relies on the strength requirements of each of these groups for a stable workforce. This is the method used to determine a basic military salary that is then applied to every branch.
It is the U.S army has a ranking established system. Its ranks are formulated from the rank of First Lieutenant or above and include officers like sergeants, lieutenants or Colonels, and majors. Within the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest to the top of the line of command. They are known as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.
The pay scale that is used in the army is called the First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant and then on. Pay rises at this point are dependent on the military’s cost of employment. This is a method to keep track of the rate of inflation of living expenses. In areas with high cost index, the cost of living will be expected to be significantly higher than when the cost Index is not high. This can result in an increase in the compensation of military members who have high educational qualifications and received similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower pay grades. Promotions in the lower ranks of their pay have no pay increase.
Officers who are both commissioned and enlisted rank receive an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid as a Warrant Officer is based on their actual commission rating, which is usually above the actual star. At higher levels of leadership like Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers are eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotions. That means, those who’ve previously been promoted to General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties go up at least every 2 years. You need to be in the top 20 percent of your class to qualify for an specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty paygrades can apply to become a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant once they’ve reached the minimum number in years served and have reached the appropriate promotion level.
