In the Colonel rank, you will be considered a General and be responsible for the entire military and the entire staff. At this level you also get the most pay per day. As you progress, you will also receive the most number of of paid time off per calendar month.
Pay increases at this rate are calculated based on the army index of cost of employment. This is a way to account for the rising of the cost of living. In areas with an index that is high, then the cost of living will be expected to be significantly higher than when the index is low. This results in an increase in the pay for military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and raises like those in lower paygrades. People who are promoted to jobs that are not in their pay grade receive no increment.
Officers that are both commissioning and enlisted receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn with this title is based on their actual commission score which is usually greater than the rank of their actual star. Higher levels of command like Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive a promotion to a Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all commissioned officers are eligible for general promotion. This means that those who’ve already been elevated to General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties increases at least every 2 years. You must be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class in order to earn the pay grade of Specialized. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty paygrades can apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant, once they’ve reached the minimum number hours of work experience and achieved the level of promotion required.
