The pay increases for Specialties increase every two years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to get promoted to the Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. If you have one of these pay grade specializations may apply to become a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve completed the necessary number or years in service, and have completed the required level of promotion.
