The index for employment costs establishes what is known as the U.S. military pay scale called“allowable” Rate. The index is calculated by analyzing the demands for enlisted personnel or permanent employees, as well as temporary military retirees for 100 active-duty personnel. After taking into account these factors then the rate is adjusted to create a figure that takes into account the strength requirements of each of these groups to ensure that there is a sufficient number of workers. This method is employed to set a basic military pay that is then applied to every branch.

The U.S army has its ranking structure in place. Its ranks are formulated from the rank of First Lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like sergeants, lieutenants or Colonels, and majors. In the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest within the command chain. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

Another pay scale utilized by the army is the First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant and so on. The pay scale ranks individuals across different areas of service within the various branches of the army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  within the Marine Corps will be considered officers placed in reserve or Officers Regular. However, higher-ranking individuals are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Furthermore, those working in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those who are in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step in the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this scale is the ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will be a general and will be accountable for the entire military and whole staff. In this position you also get the most money per day. At higher levels, will receive a number of days of paid time off per calendar month.

Pay increases at this level are dependent on the cost of employment. This allows you to take into account the rise in living expenses. In areas with high cost index, the cost of living is expected to be more expensive than when the cost of living index is very low. This can result in an increase in the salaries of military personnel who are educated and have received similar promotions and raises like those in lower pay grades. The ones who are promoted in positions below their pay grade are not given a raise.

Officers who hold both a commissioning and enlisted receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn at this rank is determined by their commission rating which is usually higher than the level of their actual star. In higher ranks of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can receive a promotion to a Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all officers commissioned can apply for general promotions. That means, those who’ve already been elevated to General will be eligible for a promotion to Vice Captain or Major.

Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties go up approximately every two years. You have to be in the top twenty percent of your class to gain promotion to an specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialty pay grades could apply to be a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve reached the required number of years of service and have achieved the level of promotion required.
